Nanny/Housekeeper:
A Nanny Housekeeper will care for the children but in addition to this she will also have the responsibility of caring for the family home. Where this is the case the children are usually at school and it is during this period that the Nanny housekeeper will attend to the housekeeping duties.
Duties in and around the home may include shopping making beds, children's laundry and bedding; parents' laundry and bedding, vacuuming, and polishing.
Where a family already has a housekeeper the nanny role can instead be coupled with cooking for the family and depending on their competency this may extend to dinner party cooking.

Nanny / PA;
Where the children are at school you may decide that you can make use of your nanny’s time by engaging her in helping you with other duties – such tasks usually asked of the nanny may not be directly related to the children and can include:
Errands (shopping, gift purchases, dry cleaning etc); Online food shopping (for the whole family); Planning and organization of children’s birthday parties; Booking train and or flights/hotels etc for family trips; Answering emails;
Organizing workmen; Replying to invitations, booking appointments and managing the household calendar.
Organising children’s and parents social diaries
A nanny may also be of help if one or both of the parents run a business from home and need general administrative help. The nanny may have had previous experience in this area or welcome this addition to their position as this can be beneficial to them in adding to their list of skills.
Governess:
A Governess will usually be educated to degree level (normally she will hold a teaching degree) and may have taught in a school. She will generally be requested where the child is of school age and in addition to having a Governess they will typically attend full-time school and may also have a nanny. The Governess is usually responsible for educating the child outside of school hours, sometimes in a second language or enhancing their school subjects be it art, or science etc.
Where there is no nanny employed the Governess may then also be responsible for their meals and caring for their wardrobe.
Tutor:
This is someone that is usually employed after school or on the weekends to teach your child in their specialized subject. The subjects are wide ranging but can be music, a second language, dance, art etc or they can be employed to help your child in an academic area in which they need extra tuition in preparation for an exam.
They can teach on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
A Maternity Nurse is someone that will come into your home and help you with your newborn. In general a maternity nurse will work 24 hours 6 days per week (they must have at least one day off per week). Some are available for day or night only if requested. If the Maternity Nurses is a short distance from your home she may choose to spend her day off at her own residence and return to you again ready to start the following week. Where the Maternity Nurse has had to travel some distance to be with you it is recommended that on her day off she has a quiet area to where she can go to rest without being disturbed.
Your Maternity Nurse is usually qualified and will have relevant experience. It is quite common that they will have gained their baby experience as a nanny and in some cases they will have worked as a nurse in thepaediatric branch of hospitals.
The Maternity Nurse is there to offer the mother advice on caring for their newborn. This will often involve everything from feeding (using both breast and bottle), sterilization, sleeping routines, helping where the baby may have developed colic or reflux etc.
They can help a mother get the much needed rest after a pregnancy (whether natural or caesarian), ensuring that you are strong and ready to take over when she leaves.
Some Maternity Nurses can offer a consultation service if you do not want to have someone there 24/6 or if you have questions following the departure of any help you may have received.
Salaries for Maternity Nurses are usually gross as they are considered self-employed and therefore liable for taking care of their own tax and National Insurance deductions.
Single babies £650-800+ Net per week
Multiple: £900 + net per week
Salaries are set by the Maternity Nurses themselves and vary according to experience
