..Interview Tips..
The interview takes place because you already made a good appearance with your C.V !! You are already half way there, so be confident!
There will be a 30 to 60 minutes interview to assess your personality suitability knowledge; therefore it is important that you immediately create the right impression.
· Plan your journey to ensure a comfortable arrival 10 minutes before the designated time.
· Know the name of the person you are meeting.
· If you are unavoidably detained call your consultant immediately so that they can inform the client. If it is outside office hours you should have been given a contact number for such emergencies.
· Make sure you dress smartly as first impressions count! Do not wear too much make-up or heavy perfume scents.
· Treat everyone you meet as interviewers.
· Address the interviewer by their last name.
· Shake hands firmly with the interviewer and do not sit down until invited to do so.
· Take copies of any references and or certificates you may have as this may be helpful should your interviewer not have them at hand.
· Prepare answers to likely questions, especially the inevitable "Tell me about yourself".
· When the interviewer asks you question about your career history - you should not have to look at your CV to discuss past positions.
· Be concise when answering questions – and be aware of “open questions” where the answer requires more than just a YES or NO but always keep it to the point.
· You may be asked why you are applying for the position. Before answering this, think about what attracted you to the position e.g. are there challenges involved that you are currently not being given in your present position.
· You may be asked why you should be chosen over another candidate. This is where you must really think about the job description itself and tell the interviewer about any relevant qualification and experience which you can take to the role.
· Salary: Do not raise this topic at the first interview. Your expectations can be settled at a second interview or by your consultant.
· Prepare questions which are relevant and which confirm your interest in the opportunity.
· Be ready to discuss both short and long term career goals in general terms.
· Be ready to discuss the reasons you left your previous jobs, Make sure your responses are honest and be positive.
· Take time in answering questions.
· Speak clearly and steadily.
· Thank the interviewer at the end of the interview.
· Call your consultant after the interview to let them know how it went and your thoughts so far.
Good Luck..
